The thing is, you don't need to specialize in a breed in order to participate in the forum anymore so that's why I removed the list I had done up when I first opened the forum. I don't mind you doing one but just thought I'd point that out.

I get that, I just would like to know who is specializing in what if they are specializing in anything. Like, I personally don't want to specialize in something someone else is already. A list is the best way to keep track of that.
I could add something to the list for people who don't special in anything if people want.
Also, I think we might be viewing the word "specialize" as something different. You're working with Bulldogs, Alleys, Maus, and Persians, yes? I would say that you're specializing in all of them, but I'm getting the impression that you use that term to mean you're specializing in one thing, like I am currently working with Shepherds.
Maybe "specialize" is not the right name for this. I just want a list of who is breeding what.

I get that, but I'm not specializing in anything. I'm just adopting random petz from the AC and whoever likes each other will breed. But this thread is fine :3

Then why list them in your profile? If you're not breeding purebred things with purpose, why list them that way?
I'm not saying your wrong or trying to start an argument, just trying to understand what's going on in this forum lol.

You don't have to list them in your profile if you don't want to. It's just an added option you can put in there. Not obligatory. The forum used to be a one breed per person forum. Now, it's an ALL OB forum. Anything goes as long as they're OB breeds.

I get that. That wasn't my question. I'm asking why you have those breeds listed if you're not specializing in them or even breeding purebred ones.

I think you guys are basically saying the same thing, just differently. Meomi is breeding mixies from scratch basically. The ones in her profile are the current breeds she's adopted specifically for breeding and playing purposes on Rootz. If the next pet she feels like adopting is a dane, then she'll add dane to the list. She's basically just listing the breeds she's already adopted that she will be using here on Rootz. For example I am breeding mixie labs, but not from scratch. I'm using petz that I've adopted from other people over the course of time, but specifically, I am just breeding/playing with labradors right now on Rootz (and might be doing calis as well later). The purpose of this forum is not to breed purebreds or simply one breed. It's to breed whatever you want, as long as you're playing it naturally. I personally have chosen to work with my mixie labs. Meomi has chosen to work with random 1st gen OBs she's adopting from the AC. You can play on this forum however you choose as long as you're doing it with OB breeds, not really using PetzA much, and not including hexies or any OWs (besides approved ones). So say if you wanted to breed a dane and a sheepdog together, you could. And if you want to add dane and sheepdog to your breeds list under your profile, then awesome. Or if you do those, then calis, but really only want to mention the calis, then simply choose calis. Or don't use the feature at all! It's just there for fun

Again, not really my point... I don't understand listing purebred breeds if you're not breeding purebreds. If there was a lab-mixie option there, that would make more sense. It's just confusing for people to list breeds that you're not actually breeding.
I really liked the original idea of Rootz: to raise and breed purebred OBs naturally. Didn't like only being able to specialize in one breed, but the purebred thing was what drew me here when I saw the thread on RKC. Now it's not really much different from Duke's group or anything else.

Pitching in to say I agree with Fall... I guess I also just don't really understand listing purebred breeds if you're not actually breeding/specializing in purebreds? ^^; At least, that's what I thought the options implied, especially since there's an option for mixies! Also, I like that mixies are allowed, but I'd agree that removing that "specializing" aspect makes it a lot like Duke's group or any other forum dedicated to naturally raising petz. Not saying it's a bad thing to have another Duke's group type forum per se, but I don't know, I guess I just thought the main purpose was to specialize in something, whether that's purebreds or mixies, and so I thought the breeds listing in the profile was meant to indicate specifically what you're actually specializing in, not just what you have? ^^; I hope that made sense, I'm half asleep and terrible at explaining myself lol.

The forum used to be for specializing one breed and guess what, it died. Ppl got bored of it. So i posted on RKC ideas to improve it so that more ppl would be interested. If you guys wanna open a forum for specializing one breed, then by all means, go for it. This is how the forum is run now. If you don't want to use the profile option, don't use it. I use it the way i want to use it.

I didn't really mean to say that you should be limited to one breed, or HAVE to specialize in something to participate. ^^; Though I also didn't get the impression from reading the thread over on RKC that members thought the specializing aspect was boring--just that they were limited to one breed, had to start from scratch, and couldn't include anyone else's lines. In fact, I got the impression of the opposite; it seems like everyone who's joined so far actually really likes the specialty aspect, since most of us have chosen a purebred breed, or a certain breed of mixies, like lab mixies etc.
I guess, the way I see it, if you aren't specializing in a purebred breed, you're just "specializing" in mixies by default is all. =) But you're right, it is your forum, so of course you're entitled to use the profile options you set up however you want! Fall and I were only trying to explain why we didn't feel that made sense with what we thought the forum's focus was meant to be.

Neither of us said the whole one breed thing was what we liked. That was clearly far too limiting. The concept, though, specializing in anything made this forum unique (whether it be mixies or purebred). Without that aspect... I just don't see the appeal now. My apologies for all the trouble. Feel free to delete this thread if you wish. Clearly it serves no purpose in anything but unintentionally upsetting you. I just thought having a list of who was breeding what would be helpful. Clearly I was wrong.
