I'm 17 and coming up to my last ever day of school (on Wendsday!), and yesterday I had a massive attack of nostalgia for when I used to play with Petz 5 with my friend, when we were 11 or 12. Chief among our fascinations with the game was the ability to give petz catnip - having only recently learned about drugs in PSHE lessons we thought it was the coolest thing to have junkie catz. We didn't have the patience to breed our petz however, and eventually we stopped playing.
Fast forward to yesterday, as I'm frantically trying to get a copy of Petz 5 to run on my laptop (I run Ubuntu). I worked my way through three different Windows emulators, and none worked. The Linux community can make a program to support World of Warcraft with all the complexity that goes with it, but a simple game like Petz 5? Nah. So I set up a virtual machine running a copy of XP (cue another computing nostalgia-fest) and installed Petz 5 on it. That is the length I will go to to get my furry, pixel-y goodness.
I've chosen to breed Egyptian Maus, as I'm interested in Egyptian mythology and thought that would be a nifty source for solving my total writer's block when it comes to naming kittenz (or anything else). I also think they're a very nice looking breed, and not as common as other breedz. My username is an ancient Egyptian greeting that means 'peace'.
In real life I'm interested in science (developmental molecular genetics :3), politics (not stating an affiliation for fear of starting an argument) and, as I said above, mythology and linguistics. Not only Egyptian, but also Indo-European (that's the pre-Christian mythology of everywhere from Ireland to India). Feel free to ask me something, tell me something or otherwise interact with me!
