Since (I think) this forum's about wanting to return to basics, I figured that this is as good a topic as any to start some chatting and discussion. :3
One of mine in particular...
Back when my sister and I were still little kids, we had this game. Petz 5. Good times, those were. Well, anyway, my sister had this pair of Maine Coons that she'd adopted and had bred together. Weeell one fateful day she calls out momma cat, and surprise, a litter of four! Most of them looked normal enough... but there was one. He had black feet. It was the first bred mutation we'd ever noticed, and we were absolutely flabbergasted. (No doubt we'd had mutated moggies and mixies before, but we hadn't actually realized. The purebred aspect made it a lot easier to spot.) I think eventually she decided that the black color must have come from the Maine Coon eyelids. xD No, not so much..
I dunno, thought it fit with the theme here. Soo, what about you?

Aw, that's too funny Sharebear!
I have a lot of fond memmories, but the ones I remember most would be...
My friend and I playing together.
1. Downloading all the breeds from 'Petz Gallery' and the downloads taking FOREVER since we were on Dial Up at the time. Then breeding them all together and getting the funniest mixes! Our favorite to breed with others was the 'Growl' I think is what it was named. It always threw blue colors into the pups even though they were orange, black, and cream colored. I think they did have blue paws though. We also bred pigs with things, I only remember one of the outcomes of that though and we named it Ugly. Poor thing.
2. We had these two wolves that we just LOVED. She had a white wolf and I had a cream and dusty colored wolf. Both were females. Hers was named 'Panda' and mine was named... 'Sweaty' XD It was supposed to be 'Sweety' but yeah, I spelled it wrong and now I laugh at what her name actually said. Anyways, they were our absolute favorite petz and I still miss them to this day. Her 'Panda' was actually the one that got me into showing and I got my firs BIS in pose shows with her. That was they day I learned what a good pose looked like! I was so excited!
3. I remember going over to her house and we'd go to her cousin's house where she had the game. And their parents only allowed them 1 pet and it had to be spayed / neutered. She had a Dachshund, and we had fun playing with it.
4. We got my brother's girlfriend at the time, now his wife, and her friend to play the game. They liked to have fun with the names and named one Tam and another Pax, then bred them together lol. They made the best puppies though so we loved them!
5. Same friend, we also installed the game at her sister's house and they had a RL German shepherd, Rottie mix that we loved. So we spent a lot of time breeding Rotties with German shepherds trying to get one that looked like him. It never happened though lol.
6. I remember going to school and telling her 'So and so had their baby today!' and we'd get all excited and she'd come over after school to see lol.
That's it for now. I'll post more if I think of them. I actually do have another, but it'll have to wait!

1. My friend Eva and I had a sleepover one time, and oh my goodness, we couldn't get these dogs to breed for like two hours. I feel terrible now thinking about it because the whol toyroom florr was covered in perfume bottles!
2. Same friend and I used to go into paint, and make rooms for each of our dogs, we also used to have breeding programs with great danes. We retired the mother after 3 breedings.
3. My sister and I loved mixies, there was this one mixie we had, all white lab with black eye lids, and light blue eyes. Her name was Jenna. Oh my goodness we fought over that dog like none other! My Dad finally went in and deleted her so we'd stop fighting.
4. My friend and I also used to play vet with our pups, we'd paint them red and pretend to knock them out and do surgery while they slept. Lol the stick was the scalpel.
5. One time I had a poodle, I didn't know the surprise box had a bubbler in it. So I thought the bubbles were coming out of the poodles tail!

I remember my cousin/best friend had got Dogz 2 on her computer and how we thought it was the best thing ever! So I asked my mom if I could have it for Christmas. Well, she couldn't find that version so she bought me Dogz 4 instead. I was soooo excited. The computer I had though was VERY ancient and the game kept lagging all the time. I downloaded the game on my other friend's computer, hers was better than mine. I played at her house instead. I remember I had a couple of bulldogs. They were in love and they had little babies. The male was SOOOO fat! I had him running in the backyard all day! He just wouldn't stop eating, that little piggy xD They're gone now though...

My Dad finally went in and deleted her so we'd stop fighting. A room full of perfume, love potions, and heart pillows was my go-to breeding method! I, too, remember the frustration of two pets who refused to acknowledge that the other existed. Hah, that reminds me of a different incident with me and my sister. We both wanted to use the same name, (whatever it was, I don't recall,) but obviously the game doesn't allow that. This led to passive-aggressive name changing whenever one of us got to play petz. My greatest petz aspiration for a while was trying to breed a Maine Coon/Scottish Fold mixie that was basically just a Maine Coon with the Fold texture.. I remember getting so excited whenever I got something close. Never did manage to breed a perfect one, though. xD

Lol the stick was the scalpel. Not gonna lie, all I can think of is a kid running around with a stick trying to cut someone open with it now. My memories are 1- My friend that introduced me to the game, going over to her house and chasing her brother off the computer so we could play petz. I had a mutt and a shepherd named Sweety and Max. They had a pup who was just a black shepherd with a chest patch named Knight. He was in love with her SheepdogXDane mixie...don't even remember her name. 2- same friend, we decided we wanted to breed odd mixies, we did poodleXbulldog. And we were so horrified by what we got we decided not to breed poodles or bullies with anything ever again. 3- when I discovered the joys of extra files, specifically wildz, I would download them and mix them. As we all know that can end really...badly at times. Well after a very rabid breeding spree, one where I spent an entire Saturday creating Frankenstein monster mixies, I dreamed that night...of the things I had created trying to kill me and keeping me trapped on my bed. Moral of the story don't do horrible breedings then fall asleep watching Tremors. 4-I got my cousin into petz for a short period. Between the two of us we had around 20 petz, mostly dogz. Well we loved playing pretend growing up. Well for a long time our favorite pretend game was for us to pretend that these petz were real and we would play with them at our grandmother's ranch(where there was no computer so it was all in our heads). She had a blue dane named Bluebell and I had a red one with a black mask named Demon. They "lived" on my grandmother's cellar and were our guard dogz. Pickles and Chip(her chi and my scottie) were our hunting dogz who followed us everywhere. And then we had four dogz that were our working dogz, Sweety and Max(adopted after my original two on my friends game) and her Sheepie(Dorky) and Bullie(Jowlz). They all had pups that worked with them too.

I can only imagine what resulted EDIT: Did experimental breeding spree in a different profile. Bulldog ears with a poodle head/face results in what can only be described as:

Oh man, I have some very fond memories of Petz! Especially after reading all of yours, it made me remember some of my own memories that I haven't thought of in a long while! Back in 1997, we had just moved from Chicago to Florida. I was 10 years old, and was delighted to have met a girl my age named Katie, who lived just a few houses down from us. We became instant friends, and she invited me over to her house one day to show me her new video game. It was Dogz 3. Usually, her mom would only allow one-hour of computer time a day, because she felt that kids our age should play outside and use our imaginations (which I actually agree with). This particular day was a really stormy day though, so she let us play on the computer all day. Literally. I got to her house around 9am, and didn't leave until about 5pm. She opened up the game, and brought out her female Dali named Dutchess, and male Great Dane (blue) named Duke. I was instantly hooked! From that day on, I begged my parents to get me the game, with no such luck. I had to get my fix at my friend's house, and a lot of the time it was just me watching her play with envious eyes. I didn't receive my own copy until Christmas.... the following year in 1998. I picked up the present, and as soon as I realized it was Dogz 3, I literally started jumping up and down screaming! Having only one computer, I had to share the game with my younger sister though. Luckily, I got the first turn because I was older. I went straight to the AC and started taking out one of every breed. I was so excited! I wanted two of each! My mom came around the corner though, and said, "You each only get to adopt TWO! That's IT! If you can prove to me that you can take care of them, then MAYBE I will let you adopt a couple more". I immediately protested with, "Butttt mooooooom!!!". She stood her ground though, so I decided on adopting 2 Muttz, male and female, named Merlin and Wizzard. Our neighbor trained Golden Retrievers to be service dogs, and had recently adopted a puppy named Merlin, which is where I came up with his name. I wanted his mate's name to relate somehow, and Wizzard was the first thing that popped in my head! I still have those two original goofballs, and play with them regularly! After a couple weeks, my mom allowed us to adopt more dogz. I don't remember any of them, I just know I adopted and bred a ton of them! I would use the "cheat" of changing the time and date on the computer, so I could have the puppy be born "right away" (although it took a LOT longer to do than PetzA these days)! One of my favorite memories: My friend Katie and I would put our Dogz on a floppy disk (some of you are probably too young to remember those, they were basically external hard drives that could only store a handful of petz on them before they were full lol), and we would "bring over our dogz to play" with the other person's dogz. I remember having a female Dali, and she had a male Great Dane that was light brown. They fell in love and my Dali got pregnant. The day the puppy was born, I hopped on my bike, peddled as fast as I could to her house, banged on the door, and when she opened it I just started screaming, "THE PUPPY IS HERE! THE PUPPY IS HERE!" So she grabbed her bike, and we raced back to my house, bust through the front door, and crashed down on the computer chairs. The puppy looked just like the picture on the cover of the game! A Dali with Dane ears, light brown, with Dali spots! We loved him! But then we were like, "Who gets to keep him???". Well we decided I would obviously keep him until he was weaned since I owned the mom, and then we had "joint custody" from then on! I would give him to her on a floppy disk for a few days, and she would give him to me for a few days. We loved that little bugger! I also remember my mom having to set a timer that would go off to signal my turn, or my sister's turn, on the computer. We would fight SO much over turns!! A few times, I caught her playing with my dogz, and I would get SO MAD! I would say, "You have to have my PERMISSION to play with my dogz.... and you DON'T!" haha. Ahhhh, so many memories! I could go on and on and on. This post is long enough though, brownie points to anyone who read the whole thing!

Goodness, I don't have as many amusing memories of pets that y'all do, but I have a few.
Growing up, I never used names. I never called my parents mom or dad, I never referred to anyone by name, and the only stuffed animals I had with names were pre-named or my parents forced me to name them.
Therefore, naming Petz when I had Petz II was quite a chore. I used default names, but when I got two of any breed, I had to come up with other names. I don't remember many of those names. Just three, actually. Amigo and Amiga for Chihuahuas... and "mmm" for a mutt.
Don't ask me why she was named "mmm" but I stinkin' loved that dog. She was by far my favorite. All my other pets ran away but her. She was... awesome. I always kept her painted the cream color and she was overweight so she was just a big, fluffy, cream mutt. I put her on a floppy disk (several, actually), and even played with her after I got Petz 5 (not in Petz 5, though, because she wasn't he same when I imported her).
Then when I got Petz 5, I got two cream German Shepherds named Max and Maxy because, again, not a fan of naming things. They had a puppy named Tommy who was cream but lacked the black saddle. I adopted him a 1st gen mate that was a brown German Shepherd named Molly.
At the time, my family was living in the same town as my grandparents and they were come over every Friday to play 42. I remember drawing up adoption applications and handing them to my grandparents to fill out so they could adopt the pets I bred. I had my parents buy them Petz 5 as well.
Before I joined the PC and could enter real shows, I made my parents be judges and my petz and my sister's petz would compete. There were several levels of judging and I just know my parents "fixed it" so my sister and I would tie. Oh well... I even cut out ribbons for the winner!
There are two mixed breed petz I remember getting... A pure white poodle mix with a poodle head and, if I'm remembering correctly, Dali everything else. He was my dad's dog and he was gorgeous. Can't remember his name... Another was a pure black German Shepherd mix named Wolf. Somehow my sister and I ended up with copies of Wolf because we had copied the mother while she was pregnant so my sister had a female version of him and I had a male... and we ended up breeding them. XD
That's about all I got...
